The bain of any certified asshole is the act might inspire some to really like and dig you. Call it a Asshole Mid-Life Floyd Mayweather is going thru this transformation as we speak. After crushing the pay per view record and pocketing a cool 41M in his last fight, Floyd hit up The Colbert Report for a funny bit on “Street Chess” LINK. The bit is pure and very funny with the KO punch of Floyd saying he will punch current chess #1 Magnus Carlsen. The bit shows the funny and less ass-hole’y side of the champ. With the effortless & fluid training of Colbert leading Floyd plays off the interview questions with swift and deft movements just like his all time boxing defense he displays in the ring.

This is a huge turning point for Floyd  and his 200M empire as he enters the twilight of his masterfull career. To this point he played the arrogant rich prick who gets people to pay 80$ for his “boring” fights just to see him get knocked out. With these last few media appearances, Floyd is showing a funny and humble side to him that will actually get more people to buy his fights.  Who knows where this new role will take Floyd {maybe SNL} in any case the Reformed Asshole will still be The Champ.

Some How The Sports Agency Game Reminds Me of The Crack Game

Prophetic words spoken by a young Nasir Jones on the seminal classic Represent. While Drugs and Booze have always been a polarizing topic in America, Crack and it’s impact has had a everlasting effect culturally and economically.{SIDE NOTE: I wanna meet the cat that actually came up with Crack…like I wanna meet the cat that said if I boil coke it will turn into a crystallized rock and I can cut it so many times and quadruple my sales}.

As the now deceased greatest female singer famously said “Crack is Wack” but that was before Hova da God entered the sports agency business.  Jay Z laced Vanity Fair with an amazing and candid (well as candid as private hermits get) Interview touching on many topics including his New Roc Sports firm.  One of the defining quotes of the interview is:

“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,” he told the magazine. “To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash—those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life.”
A couple of things here..Jay shouldn’t have to answer questions on his validity of opening his own sports firm the same way Trump doesn’t have to answer question for starting a Trump Water line. Secondly, being a drug dealer doesn’t give you any more advantage of running a sports firm as being a Pastry Chef give you an advantage on how to run a sugar cane farm. Drew Rosenhaus runs a uber successful sports firm by doing it the non traditional way… Out Working competition.
While I love Hov as the artist and especially the business…..MAAAAAN!, this quote is just not necessary. What Crack did to his and my community is uncompromisable. It destroyed the community from the inside out It turned fathers in junkies and it turned some of the baddest woman into Base-head Zombies. As far as Hero Worship, Hov has crept his way up-right behind MJ, MJ(Jordan) and MLK in the Modern Black Community. To a vast number of young males w/o legit Role Models, Hov is their Role Model. In a nut shell lets not focus on this one quote but rather the #NEWRULES Hov is creating as far as branding and starting businesses…..cause besides
