The venerable Chipotle empire is diversifying their portfolio and opening up more ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen spots. The 1st one opened up in 2011 in the tony Dupont area of DC. They got leases signed in Gtown, Bethesda and the LA area
What is ShopHouse??–>>It follows the same model as Chipotle, with guests building their meal as they walk the service line. Rather than burritos, however, the options at ShopHouse include Southeast Asian-inspired rice and noodle bowl dishes with marinated meats, spicy sauces, and herbs and vegetables.
It seems to be well designed and could be a nice addition to their empire. There no doubt the burrito craze growth has slowed down and the noodle chamber is always expanding. Chipotle sees at least 400-500 growth the next 10yrs….
Sidenote: Although Chipotle and ShopHouse give off a “healthy” feel, it reality their some of the worst Carb-Bombs in restaurant food. And please remember a few splashes of soy sauce has a truck load of sodium….
